The number of improvements in this new version are several thousands. Since KDE 4.3, they have fixed 7293 bugs and implemented 1433 new features.

KDE is licensed under LGPL which makes it possible to use the code in both open and closed solutions. KDE 4.4 is available for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD and Solaris. KDE 4.4 will be found in the Linux distributions this spring. Amongst them is Ubuntu 10.04, Fedora 13 and OpenSuse 11.3.
