Another document has been leaked that shows how Facebook handles user information.

Last week the Cryptome website leaked a confidential document showing guidance on how Microsoft handles customers’ personal information in connection with suspicion of a crime.

Now, Cryptome also got their hands on a similar document that shows how Facebook handles its user data if there is suspicion of a crime, and police requests the information.

The manual is called “Facebook Subpoena / Search Warrant Guidelines” is from 2008 which means that there may be a later version. The document shows that Facebook disclose the following information to the police in return for a court order or a search warrant:

  • The users full profile.
  • All images that the user have uploaded to the service and images that the user has been “tagged” on.
  • All personal data stored on the user.
  • Information about a particular group on Facebook and a list of all of its members.
  • The IP addresses thet the user has used to login for the last 90 days.

According to the manual Facebook also offers to give out specific information that is not listed above. This information, however, must be requested by an authority.
