Previously, Microsoft’s roll-out plan set June as the launch month for the next version of Office. Now it is clear that this applies to anyone who wants to buy a version in the store. Microsoft expects to put the finishing touches on Office 2010 in April when also SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010 will be rolled out. This means that companies that have volume license to install the products in May.

Microsoft has just launched a so-called technology guarantee or warranty upgrade for those who buy Office 2007 for Windows up to and including 30 September. In this period, Microsoft gives a free upgrade from Office 2007 to 2010 for regular licenses (not volume). Note that special conditions apply. Among other things you need the date of purchase in addition to a valid product key in order to qualify for the upgrade.

If you would like to try out Office 2010 before it is released, they have released a beta version that is available to all to try.
