Ever since KDE 4 was released several years ago, the KOffice office suite has been ported to the new framework Qt4.

Now the KOffice developers thinks that the program is ready for the the average users, and releases KOffice 2.2. The biggest news is that Kexi data manager is back. Kexi was first released in KOffice 1.6 and has received a total makeover.

Compatibility with Windows and OS X has improved. The performance has been improved and KOffice has received new import filters for the Microsoft XML based office formats that are used in MS Office 2007 and later. Currently, it is only possible to import filters. At this time there are no plans for export filters for these file formats.
