On Wednesday Apple is expected to present a new model of iPod Nano, which is a lot smaller than its predecessor.

Recently, there has been a lot of rumours surrounding the next-generation iPod Nano. Alibaba has released images of a screen protector that seems to reveal that the mp3 player will be given a new design.

If the images are real, the next iPod Nano will be almost as small as today’s iPod Shuffle, which may mean that the model is phased out. The screen is said to be 3×3 inches big, which is consistent with the image of a minimal touch-screen that was published earlier this summer.

This is what the next iPod Nano could look like.

Interestingly enough, it appears that the iPod Nano, in spite of the size reduction, gets to keep the 30-pin connector, which means that old accessories will be compatible.

The images also show that the new model is equipped with three (or four) buttons. In other words, you do not need to look at the screen to raise or lower the volume.
