Dell will soon end the possibility of downgrading to Windows XP on their computers.

Microsoft has for a long period of time now ceased the sales of Windows XP, but has given PC vendors the opportunity to sell Windows 7 computers giving the user an option to downgrade to an older version of Windows.

Dell will soon cease to provide the option of downgrading to Windows XP on new copmuters. This is supposed to take effect as soon as in September.

Microsoft has previously announced that the option to downgrade will expire on Oktober 22, but adds that volume license customers still get the possibility to downgrade to Windows XP if they so desire.

Microsoft will still continue to provide driver support for Windows XP, but this support will end in December 2012.
