Android Market has now reached over 100 000 apps for download and are catching up with the Apple App Store.

Yesterday, the Android Dev Team tweeted that Android Market now has reached 100 000 apps. The last time Google released official numbers, was in in early September, when Hugo Barra, Product Management Director for Mobile at Google, said that not did more than  180 000 developers create apps for the Google Mobile portal, but they also reached 80 000 apps.

This is an increase by 20 000 apps in a period of a bit more than a month. According to the site Electricpig this is the same growth rate as the Apple App Store had in September last year. If Android continues at this rate, it can be very tough for Apple and the Iphone, but they still have a solid lead with more than 250 000 apps available.
