Version 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) of the Open-Source data recovery software toolkit based on Ubuntu is available now.

Ubuntu Rescue Remix 10.10 is now available for download. The new version is based on Ubuntu 10.10. This is a command-based emergency toolkit that can be used to troubleshoot your computer.

If you prefer to work in a graphical environment, a metapackage is available which will install the data recovery and forensics toolkit onto your current Ubuntu Desktop system. The package includes GNU ddrescue, Photorec, The Sleuth Kit and Gnu-fdisk.

The package can be downloaded from ubuntu-rescue-remix.org and contains of an ISO file that can be burned to a CD, or you can create a bootable USB Flash drive using USB Startup Disk Creator that comes with Ubuntu. The toolkit can also be installed in your existing Ubuntu installation.

If you are a Windows user, you can use Pen Drive Linux instead.
