To keep up with hundreds of different Linux distributions, each distro needs something to seperate them from the rest. Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions at the moment, and they will try to increase their popularity further by mimicking the gaming platform Steam.

This has been confirmed from the meetings held during the developer conference Ubuntu Developer Summit, in Budapest last week.

Ubuntu Software Center will be more like the Steam client and there will also be integration with different social networks, like Facebook and Twitter.

Ubuntu wants a more interactive future, where the Ubuntu Software Center is combined with video, forums, and web cams.
