Google just released version 12 of their Chrome browser, and it supports hardware-accelerated 3D CSS. The advantage is that any websites and web apps that use 3D CSS effects, will now render the page with the help of your computer’s graphics card.

The result is a much smoother and faster 3D performance, as demonstrated on this website.

Google Chrome 12 also offers security and privacy enhancements. Chrome will now warn against malicious files you try to download and give you more control over locally stored data from websites. These include Adobe Flash‘s Local Shared Objects.

Chrome 12 for Mac or PC can be downloaded here. If you are already using Google Chrome it will be updated automatically.
