There are already several apps for iPhone and Android that will make it easier to use Wikipedia on your mobile phone. But now, Wikipedia has finally launched an official Wikipedia app. The app is free and has a simple and clean user interface. It provides easier access to content on Wikipedia than if you use the browser on your phone.

The user interface is uncluttered and easily built up – with a search box at the top and a view of the article. If you use the Android version you can start reading an article in English and then press the “Read in” and choose to read the same article in another language.

The source code is open, and Wikipedia encourages developers to join in and help to develop the app.
