Spotify has just released a new beta version of Spotify for Android. The app has been redesigned from scratch with a completely new design and also support for Android 4.0. The app is not yet available from Google Play, but you can already now download a preview of the app directly from Spotify.

Some of the new features include:

  • Totally new app with full support for Android 4.0
  • Top-to-bottom redesign
  • All-new slide-out navigation
  • Even more social – check out friends’ profile pages and playlists on the go
  • Artist imagery in high resolution
  • Related artist view – available for the first time on mobile
  • ‘Extreme’ sound quality setting for 320kbps listening
  • So much faster

More new features, including folders and Last FM scrobbling, will be added before the app goes live in Google Play.

In order to install the app, your phone must first be set to install apps from an unknown source. This is done by going to “Settings / Applications / Unknown sources (allow)”.

Once that’s done, click on this link to download Spotify to your computer or phone. Remember to reset the settings on your phone after installing Spotify for increased security.
