Apple today released version 6.0 of the Safari web browser.  In addition to various bug and security fixes, some of the  new features in Apple’s browser now include an improved search field and a password panel.

Safari 6.0 offers the following new features, and more:

  • Unified Smart Search Field. In Safari, you can now use the same field for both searches and web addresses.
  • Offline Reading List. Safari can now save complete web pages in a reading list so you can read them later even if you are not connected to the internet.
  •  Do Not Track. Safari sends websites you visit a request not to track you online.
  • Password Panel. With the new password panel , you can manage your saved login information for websites.
  • Baidu. The most popular Chinese search engine Baidu is now a built-in option for Chinese users.

Users of OS X Mountain Lion will also have access to iCloud Tabs, a new Tab View and a new Share button to easily share web content.

The easiest way to get Safari 6.0 is to start Software Update in Mac OS X, or start Apple Software Update for Windows. It will also be made available directly from the Safari website.
