In August, Facebook released a new version of its app for iOS, which according to the company was rewritten from scratch. Previously, the app was designed as a shell around html5, which slowed down its performance.

In conjunction with the release of the new version for iOS, rumors said that managers at Facebook were not happy with the Android version of the app and that it would be rewritten entirely.

Now it seems as if the new app for Android is ready and will be released shortly. According to Engadget,  the new Facebook app for Android is in the final phases of internal testing, and will be released on Google Play soon.
