For those of you who can not wait for Google to release its official update for Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 there are other solutions available. The latest version of Android offers some minor updates and some new features like Photo Sphere and support for Miracast.

If you own a Galaxy Nexus or a Nexus 7 and want to get your hands on Android 4.2 right now, there is a firmware update available from the the Google servers.

The official update, however, will be not be available via WiFi for another a few more days. To get it now, you can install a firmware version which requires you to “flash” your phone,  by using software such as ROM Manager from Clockwork Mod.

It should be noted that this is not supported by Google. However, if you’re used to “playing around” with your Android device, the installation files for Android 4.2 for Galaxy Nexus (GSM version) is available here, and file for the Nexus 7 can be found here.
