The computer pioneer John McAfee, who is wanted for questioning in Belize in connection with a murder, is now seeking asylum in Guatemala.

McAfee has been in hiding for more than three weeks and the police in Belize has stated that they wanted to speak with him in connection with the killing of a fellow American, Gregory Faull, who McAfee had a troublesome relationship with.

He crossed the border to Guatemala with a girlfriend and took in at a hotel in a national park before he traveled to Guatemala City on Monday night.

McAfee denies that he killed Faull, who was found dead on his large estate on Ambergris Cay, and he has refused to be examined by the police. His neighbors characterize him as an eccentric and unpredictable person.

McAfee earned big money on the antivirus software company McAfee Associates, which he founded in 1987.
